Harlow Urgent Care Centre

This new service opened in December 2010, replacing the nearby Harlow walk-in centre at Wych Elm.

Urgent care is health care required for minor to moderate health problems that are not immediately life threatening but which if untreated may result in irreversible complications.

The new urgent care centre has the following key benefits for patients:

• improved access to the service they need
• quicker treatment
• more convenient care closer to home
• a better NHS experience

The Urgent Care Centre is accessed via the front door of the accident and emergency department where people will be streamed according to their needs.

The new centre offers the same range of services as the walk-in centre and deals with:

• emergency contraception
• coughs, colds and flu like symptoms
• ear infections
• information on staying healthy and health promotion
• minor cuts and wounds
• muscle and joint injuries - strains and sprains
• skin complaints - rashes, sunburn and headache - rashes, sunburn and headache
• stomach ache, indigestion, constipation, vomiting and diarrhoea
• women's health problems, thrush and menstrual advice

Car parking is available on the hospital site and nearby multi-storey car parks. Disabled parking is also available.
