Essex County Council - Family Solutions

Family Solutions

Family Solutions is aimed at helping families with a range of issues on a voluntary basis. We work with families for up to 12 months by helping them identify their own solutions to their problems.

In the initial stages contact with the family can be on an intensive basis reducing over time as they become more confident at addressing their problems.

To qualify, families must meet at least three of the following criteria:

  • The family household has one or more people under 18 with a proven offence in the last 12 months and/or where any family member is involved in anti-social behaviour.
  • A child has issues with school attendance, school exclusions or is attending a Pupil Referral Unit.
  • The parents receive either Employment and Support Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Carers Allowance, Severe Disablement Allowance, Income Support and /or Jobseekers Allowance
  • The family is experiencing significant problems for example: around parental drug or alcohol misuse; domestic violence, emotional or mental health concerns, homeless, imposing parental boundaries, teenage pregnancy or adult offending.
