We, the West Essex Ramblers, invite YOU to join us for a walk.
We are a friendly group who like to get outdoors.
We walk locally
Examples: Epping Forest; Upshire; Waltham Abbey; Enfield; Cuffley; Lea Valley; Bumbles Green; Nazeing; Loughton; Abridge; Epping; Chigwell; Hainault Forest.
We also walk farther afield
Examples: (Herts) Wheathamstead; Hertford; Manuden; (Essex) Rodings; Easters; Writtle; (London) Green London Way; Historical Walks; (Kent) North Downs
We even go to walks by coach!
And then there are walking holidays!
Footpath Care
One of the principal aims of the Ramblers' Association is "To protect and enhance the Public Rights of Way network"
West Essex Ramblers does this by providing two secretaries to orchestrate any necessary work, twenty seven Parish Adopters who each oversee the paths of a selected area and a working party that maintains the footpaths.
Volunteers for the working party are required, normally every second Tuesday of the month, and everyone is invited to attend.
Countryside Watch
The main task of the group's Countryside Watch is to help to implement, at a local level, the aim of the Ramblers' Association of defending the beauty of the countryside by watching out for all kinds of development which adversely affect the countryside and to respond and campaign appropriately.
Outreach
West Essex has embarked on a programme of Outreach in the community, to introduce walking to those who might not otherwise discover or be able to enjoy the pleasures of rambling in the countryside.
