Walking for Health - Epping Forest

Epping Forest: Lifewalks [This is a Walking for Health Accredited Scheme]

Lifewalks is the Walking for Health scheme organised by Epping Forest District Council.

Launched in April 2001, Lifewalks now offers 5 led walks every week with a choice of over 25 routes. Around 35-40 people come out on each walk. There are at least 4 fully trained leaders on every Lifewalk.

Lifewalks range from 1-3 miles and each route is carefully graded for the amount of effort needed. Lifewalks take place on good surface paths in the local countryside and in the country parks around Waltham Abbey, Epping, Theydon Bois, Loughton, Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill and North Weald.

New walkers are always well looked after by the leaders who will advise on walking speed and help you quickly feel part of the group.
Our walks

Everyone is welcome although we do not accept children under 16 years or dogs (except on our Saturday walk which is open to all the family but unfortunately still no dogs).

We especially cater for walkers with high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, asthma, heart disease, those who have completed a coronary rehab programme, are overweight or just generally feeling stressed or depressed.

Lifewalks cost £1.75 per walk or £26.50 for 6 months. The scheme operates all year round with slightly different Winter and Summer programmes. Special social and themed walk events are offered in the year.
