Al-Mizan Charitable Trust is a Muslim charity that supports vulnerable individuals and families living in poverty across the UK, regardless of their faith or cultural background.
Whilst the UK’s welfare and benefits system sustains those living at the margins of society, it offers little in the way of confronting the multiple barriers of disadvantage,which perpetuate the vicious cycle of poverty. Aside from food and shelter, we believe that people need to access the skills and opportunities which allow them to maintain a dignified existence above the poverty line and positively engage in the community.
Our core work focuses on providing small grants and interest-free loans of up to £500 to those most in need. Our beneficiaries include wide-ranging social groups such asthe elderly, infirm and disabled, single parents and those who have suffered bereavement, domestic violence or abuse. The financial assistance we provide covers subsistence, specialist medical treatment and essential social services, as well as access to vocational skills, personal development and employment.
