INQUEST provides specialist advice on deaths in custody or detention or involving state failures in England and Wales. This includes a death in prison, in police custody or following police contact, in immigration detention or psychiatric care. It also works on other cases that involve multi agency failings and/or raise wider issues of state and corporate accountability.

The specialist advice service is available to bereaved people, to community and voluntary sector groups and to members of the INQUEST Lawyers Group.
