‘SAL' stands for Safeguarding Adults Line.
You can call us for anything from straightforward information and advice about the abuse and the safety of the more vulnerable adults in Essex; to the disclosure of a specific concern about your own safety of somebody that you know. Should you wish to report maltreatment of an adult in Essex we will take your concern seriously and ensure that it is investigated appropriately.

Who is vulnerable?
Somebody who is aged 18 years or older and is in need of a form of care because of a mental, physical or learning disability; their age or an illness. And who Is unable to take care of himself or herself, or unable to protect himself or herself from harm.
Are there different types of abuse?
People can be abused in different ways. The different types of abuse that people may suffer are listed below:

Where does abuse happen?
Abuse can occur anywhere; the list below is by no means exhaustive but gives some examples:
- Someone's own home
